Gary Willis

Gary F. Willis, 87 of Spartanburg, SC passed away peacefully at his home on July 20, 2022 at 8:20 pm, surrounded by his family.

Gary was born in Lumberton, NC on September 10, 1934 to William Marshall and Idell Williams Willis and grew up with three brothers and one sister. David, Estell, Billy and Larry.

After high school, Gary joined the Air Force in 1954 to 1956 where he met his soon to be wife, Nancy Russell Meadows. They married in 1955 and together they raised two children, Gary Farrell Willis Jr. and Jason Meadows Willis.

Gary was the assistant manager at Butte Knitting Mills, in Spartanburg, SC starting in 1960 until it closed in 1981. He then continued working in the textile industry until his retirement.

Gary was an avid golfer for most of his life, but what brought him the most joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his two sons, Farrell Willis and Jason Willis, three grandchildren, Ian Farrell Willis, Bradley Fox Willis, Robert Hulsart-Willis and two great grandchildren, Asher Rin Willis and Ivy Meadows Willis and niece, Teressa Harval.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, his parents, Bill and Idell Willis, brothers and sister, David Willis, Estell Harval, Billy Willis and Larry Willis.
