Freida Gay Toney

Freida Gay Toney, 88, of Spartanburg, South Carolina passed peacefully through Heaven’s Gates on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Freida was born in Inman, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Howard Crocker and the late Bessie Ruth Morgan Crocker. She was also preceded in death by her two daughters: Debbie Lattimore, Sandra Nicolai; and a brother: Bobo Crocker.

Freida was a member of The Gate Church and loved to sing. She also taught Sunday School for several years. She was a lady with a big heart and enjoyed volunteering at Well Spring Treasure. She will be remembered as being a very independent Lady. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Left to cherish Freida’s many memories are her daughter and son-in-law: Carol and Bobby Turner; and her grandson: Chris Nicolai.

The family will receive friends between 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service to honor the life of Freida Gay Toney will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday. April 25, 2026, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating the service.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Family Hospice and Restorative Care for the compassionate  and professional care they gave to Frieda during her time of illness.

Freida’s memories will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends.
