Frank William Owens, 90, of Spartanburg, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 30, 1919, in New Prospect, SC, he was the son of the late William Alexander and Hester Collins Owens. He was a self-employed retired carpenter, a member of Golightly United Methodist Church, and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Knighton Owens; a son, Frank Wayne Owens and his wife Nancy Carroll of Spartanburg; two grandchildren, Rev. Kenneth Dwayne Owens and his wife Kathy of Rock Hill, and Denise Ann Worley and her husband Richard of Roebuck; six great-grandchildren, April, Matthew, Katie, Danielle, Jodi, and Megan; a great-great-granddaughter, Natalie Grace; two brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Marvin Lee Owens and Kenneth Larry Owens; and six brothers and sisters. The committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, 5128 Highway 56, Pauline, SC. A Celebration of Life memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Kenneth D. Owens. The family will receive friends following the service at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to Golightly United Methodist Church Music Program, mailing address - 34 Coastline Drive, Inman, SC 29349.
