Frank "Bud" Kimbrell, a beloved figure in both his family and his church, passed away on January 2, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on December 12, 1940, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late, Frank Vernon Kimbrell and Thelma Beheler Kimbrell.
Throughout his life, Frank's dedication to his family was unwavering. He was a devoted husband and loving father to his children. His caring nature extended beyond the walls of his home and into the Bethel Assembly of God, where he attended faithfully for 62 years. One of Frank's trademark gestures was always having candy in hand for the children of the church, this small act of kindness brought joy to their faces.
Frank also had a number of hobbies and interests that brought him fulfillment. He was an avid hunter, loved to fish and overall outdoorsman. Frank also had a passion for gardening. Tending to his garden brought him a sense of satisfaction.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth Wells Kimbrell: his children, Randall S. Kimbrell (Susan), Tammy K. Cato (Doug), and Mike Davis (son-in-law). His grandchildren: Amanda Brock (fiancé Jamie), Samantha Kimbrell, Heather D. DeBruhl (Hunter), Joshua Davis (Sarah), Justin Davis (Katrina), Hunter Davis (fiancé Gracin), Christopher Kimbrell (Ashley), Erin Cato, and Zachary Cato. His great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Brock, Landon Brock, Shane Kimbrell, Elizabeth Kimbrell, Luke Davis, Levi Davis, and Mason Davis. Frank is also survived by his siblings: Pat McCullough, Mott Brown, Vickie Jackson, and Mike Kimbrell.
Frank is predeceased by his daughter, Tracie Davis; his brothers, Kenneth and Ronald Kimbrell.
Visitation will be held on January 6, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N., Boiling Springs, SC. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 6:00 PM, conducted by, the Rev. Robert Wells and Rev. Dan Rosa.
The loss of Frank "Bud" Kimbrell will undoubtedly be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and love for his family and community will forever be engrained in their hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
