Obituary

Frances Jane Hartsell Traynham, 93, widow of Charles Allen Traynham, passed away September 11, 2026. She was born on October 24, 1932, in Spartanburg, SC to William and Audrey (Roark) Hartsell. She was the third of eight children in a vibrant family. She graduated from Fairforest High School. Frances had a servant heart and was recognized for her dedication to volunteering at Southside Baptist Church, First Baptist North Spartanburg and Spartanburg Medical Center. She loved growing beautiful roses and giving them away. Her legacy as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother will live on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Jane Traynham Hannes (Roy) of Sunrise, FL, and Cathy Jeanne Traynham Moore of Pawleys Island. Her grandsons include Joseph Hannes (Ida) of Tranbjerg, Denmark; Scott Hannes of Sunrise, FL; Matthew Moore of Tokyo, Japan; and Michael Moore of South Carolina. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters, Lara Hannes and Alice Hannes of Tranbjerg, Denmark.

She is also survived by her siblings, Audrey Rigsby (Bill) of Albemarle, NC, Anne Hartsell of Pawleys Island, and Tim Hartsell of Inman, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Allen Traynham, father William Arthur Hartsell, mother Audrey Roark Hartsell, and siblings Betty Sue Willis, William Arthur Hartsell, II, Vaughn Earl Hartsell, Samuel Alex Hartsell and nephews William Arthur Hartsell, III, and Timothy Arthur Hartsell.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 16, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Rev. Danny Garrett. The family will greet friends following the service.

We hold onto the memories of Frances and find comfort in the knowledge that she has left a lasting impact on our hearts.
