Forrest “Buddy” Edgar Deaton, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at his home. Born December 7, 1931 in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late Carl Wesley and Lelia Childers Deaton and was reared in the Bethesda Community.
A US Navy Korean War veteran, Mr. Deaton was co-owner of Service Office Equipment for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He loved to fish and supporting kids in all sports. He was a member and President of AMBUCS, member and President of Bassmaster and a member and Deacon of Drayton Baptist Church.
He was a beloved member of his whole family.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sarah Frances Thomas Deaton of the home; sons, Timothy Forrest Deaton (Nancy), Stephen Thomas Deaton (Michelle), Todd Edgar Deaton (Tracey); grandchildren, Jacob Allen Deaton (Alyssa), Emily Michelle Deaton Millwood (Blake), Sydney Elizabeth Deaton, Reagan Elise Deaton, Stephanie Danielle Riddle, and Lucus William; sister, Betty Ruth Deaton Reece; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Archie Scott Deaton and Paul Lee Deaton.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2022, in Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. David Frost and The Rev. Jim Fisher. Visitation will follow in the chapel. Burial will be privately held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Drayton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 357, Drayton, SC 29333 or Agape Hospice, 123 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
