Floyd Gerald Sewell affectionately known as “Pop,” passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. He was born in Spartanburg, SC to the late Floyd Carroll Sewell and Gladys Marie Seay. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle “G” who was deeply loved by his family.
He lovingly and tenderly cared for his wife until her passing in 2020, showing the same kindness and strength that he shared with everyone who knew him.
Floyd proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1968 during his military service; he worked as a mechanic. He worked for Southland Insurance Company in the sales department. Floyd later retired from Spartanburg Regional Transport Services, where he was known for his reliability and dedication.
He is survived by son, Russell G. Sewell (Shirley); three grandchildren: Sammy Sewell (Kathy), Jonny Sewell (Danae) and Pammy Nix (Tra); six great grandchildren: Alan, John, Rachel, Maddie, Lanah, and Raeleigh; stepsister, Paulette Jimenez.
Floyd was predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia Pearl Sparks Sewell, stepfather, Paul Ross; twin sons: Matthew Paul Sewell and Andrew Phillip Sewell; granddaughter, Angela Sewell and a sister, Betty Sewell Romano.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
A graveside service to honor Mr. Sewell’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the may be made to the Heart Association.
