Flossie Simmons

Flossie Parris Simmons, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born November 28, 1930, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Harmon Parris and Sarah Hinson Parris and widow of Matthew Norwood Simmons. She was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include her caregiver, Mary Anne Sanford of Spartanburg, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Yvonne Sumner; and grandson Jason Matthew Sumner. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Steven A. McLain. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Avenue Ext., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
