Ernst Wagner

Ernst Theodor "Ted' Wagner, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at his home. Born August 23, 1929 in Chemnitz, Germany, he was the son of the late Curt and Else Wagner. Ted became a proud American Citizen November 3, 1995. As the owner of Liberty Reed Co., he was the 4th Generation of supplying accessories to the Weaving Industry. Ted held degrees in Textile and Mechanical Engineering. During his working life, he held positions in many organizations to improve the efficiencies in the Textile Industry. He was on the Board DIN (German Industrial Norms) and (VDMA) German Engineering Federation. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Ted was the loving husband of Margit Rose Wagner of 55 years; daughter, Cornelia (Conny) Linder; sons Ernst Theodor (Teddy) and wife, Cecile and Curt-Joachim (Curt) and wife Janine; six grandchildren, Daniel and Jacqueline Linder; Lisa and Theodor Wagner; and Annika and Askel Wagner; all of Spartanburg. Ted was a loving brother to his sister, Gertrud Rilling of Germany and the greatest uncle he could have been to her children. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 S. Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by the Rev. Emily Edenfield and the Rev. Mike Shackelford. A reception will immediately follow at Gerhard's Café, 1200 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Burial will be private. The family thanks the Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their caring guidance and support and a special thank you to Maurice.
