Ernest "Ernie" Henry Howard, Jr

Ernest “Ernie” Henry Howard, Jr., 79, of Pauline, South Carolina passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 12th, 2025, with his family by his side.

Ernie, as he was affectionately known, was born August 4, 1945, in Greenville, South Carolina, the son of the late Ilonda Howard and the late Ernest Henry Howard Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Carolyn Howard; and a brother: John Jones.

Ernie had a successful career as an equipment rigger, and retired from Fluor Daniels and Greenwood Inc. He was a good provider for his family and a hard-working man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Ernie is survived by his wife: Sharon Howard of the home; five children: Ernest Henry Howard III of Easley, SC, Angela Howard of Easley SC, Karen Williams of Easley, SC; step son: Daniel Amburgey of Pauline, SC; and a step daughter: Crystal Mize of Cape Canaveral, Florida: one brother: Billy Ray Howard (Cathy) of Easley, SC; five grandchildren: Destiny Leonhardt (Daniel) of Piedmont, SC, Nick Shobe of Simpsonville, SC, Tyler Howard of Easley, SC, Brett Mize (Meghan) of Pauline, SC and Michelle Saylors of Cowpens, SC. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends between 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The Funeral service to honor Ernie’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. The burial will follow the service in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369.

The Pallbearers will be Tyler Howard, Nick Shobe, Brett Mize, Michael Barnes, Kevin Barnes and Larry Howard.

Ernie will be missed by his family, but his memories will live on in their hearts.

The arrangements are entrusted into the care of J.F. Floyd Mortuary.
