Emmeline Knodler Blalock, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, passed away at the age of 92. She was born on November 20, 1930, in Butzbach, Germany. On September 5, 2023, she peacefully departed from this world at the Hospice House of Forest City.

Emmeline was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who touched the lives of many people in both Germany and the United States. Her career spanned across continents as she diligently cared for her patients with respect and kindness. 

Beyond her professional achievements, Emmeline will be remembered for her adventurous spirit and love of travel. Alongside her husband, Carl, she explored various corners of the globe. Some of their most cherished memories were made during their trips back home to Germany to visit family. They both experienced great joy while traveling together in Ireland. These journeys allowed them to create beautiful memories that will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those they left behind.

One cannot speak about Emmeline without mentioning her exceptional homemaking skills. She took great pride in maintaining an organized and clean home that was warm and welcoming to all who entered. Her selflessness extended beyond her immediate family; she spoiled all her family and friends with genuine care and boundless generosity. Emmeline had an extraordinary ability to always put others before herself.

Emmeline leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl M. Blalock of Spartanburg, to whom she was married for 68 years. Her presence will also be missed by her granddaughter, Christie Jackson (Cale) of Inman and two grandsons, Daniel Blalock of Chesnee, and Nathan Blalock of Chesnee.

In addition to her immediate family members, Emmeline is survived by her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Blalock of Chesnee, seven great-grandchildren: Mikayla Chambers, Dominic Cummings, Isaac Blalock, Lane Jackson, Bella Blalock, Maggie Blalock, and Killian Blalock. She is also survived by her brother, Bukhard Knodler of Bonn, Germany, as well as a niece, Donna Burt (Dan)and several nephews.

The memory of Emmeline will be honored in a series of services. A visitation will take place on September 11, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Finally, Emmeline will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg during a burial service immediately following the funeral service.

Emmeline Knodler Blalock's life was one filled with love, compassion, and adventure. She touched the lives of those around her with her caring nature and selflessness. May her spirit live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
