Emma Madeline Balossi Talbot, 85, passed away on Saturday evening, April 11, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Emma was born on September 14, 1940, in New London, CT, a daughter of the late Marcello and Emma Lena Filosi Balossi.
Emma was a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a longtime employee of Drs. James Bearden, Eric Nelson and James Bradof (later Spartanburg Hematology and Oncology) with over 30 years of service.
She was a 30-year cancer survivor which inspired her to participate annually in the Relay for Life, walking in events yearly until her health did not allow her to participate.
Emma loved her beach trips with her travel partner, Barbara Jackson. The beach would call out to them and they would pack the car and go! She also was an avid bowler, participating in various leagues. Gardening was another talent of Emma’s that brought joy to her heart and beauty to God’s Earth.
Emma is survived by two daughters, Donna Talbot Threatt of Boiling Springs, SC and Margaret Talbot Petty (Roger) of Spartanburg; 3 granddaughters, Sarah Kathryn Petty, Madeline Claire Petty and Sydney Taylor Threatt; 2 nieces, Barbara Kiely and Debra Fraser Blagden; and a nephew, Scott Fraser.
Along with her parents, Emma was predeceased by a granddaughter, Anna Grace Threatt; a brother, Frederick Francis Balossi; two sisters, Josephine K. Balossi and Margaret Josephine Balossi Fraser; and a niece, Marion Frink.

A funeral mass will follow in the Historic Church at 12:30 pm. The burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendal Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Debra Miller-Cox and the other physicians and care teams at Spartanburg Medical Center’s 7th Tower and the entire staff at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for the loving and tender care given to Emma Talbot.
