Elizabeth "Liz" Pryor Workman

Elizabeth "Liz" Pryor Workman, 91, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, died peacefully at Spartanburg Regional Hospital on December 1, 2025, while surrounded by her three sons and extended family. Liz was born on June 10, 1934, in Enoree, SC to the late Ludie Claudius Pryor and Leah Bell Cogdill Pryor.

Liz is survived by one sister, Martha Williams of Cross Anchor, SC; three sons; Clark Wilson Murff III (Susan), Michael Timothy Murff (Tammy) and Jeffrey Allen Murff (Laura) all of Spartanburg; she was "Grandma" to nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ned Rutledge Workman who passed away January 1, 2020, her parents, her sister, Shelby Jean Dunaway and brother, William B. Pryor.

Liz graduated from Cross Anchor H.S. with honors as Valedictorian; she received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in education from USC Spartanburg; and taught the 6th grade at Cowpens Elementary School. During her life she served on many committees, civic organizations and charities. Her interests included reading, painting and traveling with Ned; they spent many years sharing adventures together. Liz's family was the main focus of her life.

A private family committal service will be held on December 6, 2025, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Hudson Neely.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association South Carolina Chapter; Alzheimer's Association SC Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
