Elizabeth Donald Grau

Elizabeth Donald Grau (“Libby”), 73, of Duncan, SC, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg, SC. Libby was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her two children, Matthew (Gianna) and Haley, and her three granddaughters, Bailey, Gracie, and Eleanor. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Phil; her beloved parents, Jack and Mary Donald; and her brother, David Donald. Additional survivors include her sister, Karen Donald of Charlotte, NC.

Libby was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, Pfeiffer College (B.A.), and the University of South Carolina, where she earned her Master’s degree in Administration. After 43 years of serving in public education, Libby retired in 2018 as the Personnel Director for Spartanburg School District Five. Prior to that role, she served for 31 years at Boiling Springs High School as an assistant principal and as both a math and English teacher. During her teaching career, she also supported students by sponsoring various clubs, including the Beta Club and the Cheerleading Team. Libby loved dedicating her life to education and serving others. She was always willing to encourage and guide her students and friends toward success.

Throughout her life, Libby was a devoted Christian who served the Lord by teaching Sunday School classes and conducting worship through her gift of playing the piano and organ during church services.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Lyman Methodist Church (106 Groce Rd, Lyman, SC 29365), followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00 PM.

Libby faithfully supported Middle Tyger Community Center and was especially proud of the work of her daughter, Haley, who leads MTCC in serving children and families.
