Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” Alston of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. She was born on April 20, 1940, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Ralph William O’Ferrall and Miriam Ezelle O’Ferrall. Betsy grew up in Jackson and was a member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church.

Betsy earned her degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. During her career, she worked for Life of Georgia and later worked at Phillips Drisco Pipe, where she served as secretary.

Gifted with a beautiful voice, Betsy shared her love of music by singing in the choir at St. Paul United Methodist Church for many years. She also enjoyed reading and treasured time spent with her grandchildren. A devoted and enthusiastic supporter, she could often be found attending their baseball, football, soccer, and swimming events. She was also an avid football fan and with her husband enjoyed cheering on Ole Miss and the Carolina Panthers. Betsy loved the beach and spent many happy days at Myrtle Beach, reading and searching for shells along the shore.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Lawrence (Stephen) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jenniffer Duggins (Scott) of Inman, South Carolina; her grandsons, Justin Lawrence (Colleen), Matthew Lawrence (Marian), Ryan Lawrence (Kayley), Noah Lawrence, Josh Duggins (Destiny), and Cameron Duggins; and her great-grandchildren, Emma Lawrence, Shay Lawrence, Luca Lawrence, and Jack Lawrence.

In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, B.J. Alston, and her sister, Miriam MacAlilly.

A cryptside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Megan Gray.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or to Interim Hospice, 100 Verdae Boulevard, Greenville, SC 29607.
