Dr. Robert Elmer Muzzy, 90, of Spartanburg, South Carolina reunited with his wife in their heavenly home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Bob, as he was Affectionately known, was born in Tacoma, Washington. He was the son of the late Elmer Newton Muzzy and the late Geraldine Young Muzzy. He was the husband of fifty-nine years to the love of his life: the late Constance Ann Muzzy. He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Leslie Muzzy Bice; and a longtime canine that he loved dearly: Lulu Marie Muzzy.
Bob earned his Doctorate of Sociology from Sanford University and was a retired Professor of Sociology at Converse University where he retired after thirty-two years of faithful employment. He was also a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he attended the Upper Roads Sunday School Class. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Bob’s many memories are his son: Christopher Alan Muzzy; his adopted daughter: Lisa Smith Thompson (Ronald T); a grandson: Nathaniel James Muzzy; also a granddaughter: Shannon Barwick (Josh); a niece: Kim Elya.
A memorial service to honor Bob and his late wife, Constance Ann Muzzy, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pastor Megan Gray will be officiating the service. A private family inurnment will take place in the Heritage Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorial contributions made in Bob’s memory to St. Paul United Methodist Church or Spartanburg Humane Society.
The arrangements are trusted to the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
