Dotsey Causey

Dotsey Munn Causey, 91, of Park Place Assisted Living, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born November 11, 1917, in Olanta, SC, she grew up in Furman, SC, in Hampton County, and lived in Columbia, SC, for over 60 years where she was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Fred Armstrong Munn, Sr. and Rozetta McElveen Munn and the wife of the late Ernest Marion Causey, Jr. A graduate of Baptist Hospital Nursing School in Columbia, SC, she was a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1976 after 25 years as a secretary and nurse for Dr. Dubose Egleston. She participated in the Voluntary Service Program at the VA Hospital in Columbia where she played the piano for Chapel. She was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church of Moore. Survivors include two daughters, Carole Boyles and her husband Richard L. of Marietta, GA, and Virginia Burk and her husband Eugene C. "Buddy" Burk, Jr. of Spartanburg; two grandsons, Richard Lee Boyles of Canton, GA, and Marion Boyles and his wife Lori of Smyrna, GA; a granddaughter, Alyson Burk Altman and her husband Lex of Fort Mill, SC; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe, of Smyrna, GA. She was predeceased by a brother, Fred A. Munn, Sr. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. D. J. Horton. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Lebanon Church Cemetery in Hampton County, SC, conducted by the Rev. Charles Moore. Memorials may be made to Bible-a-Month Club of the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023-7505; or to Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369. The family is at the home of her daughter, Virginia Burk, 309 North Oakley Lane, Spartanburg.
