Donna Elaine Hines Cash, 75, of Green Creek, North Carolina, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father in the early hours of Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Born on May 13, 1950, in Spartanburg, Donna—known as Elaine to her family—was the beloved daughter of Bill and Etolia Hines of Inman. She grew up in Inman and Boiling Springs, where she cultivated the roots of faith, love, and service that would define her life. A proud graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Class of 1969, Donna went on to marry and raise two cherished children. Even if you never met them, you knew about them if you knew Donna.
A devoted follower of Christ, Donna modeled her life after the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully served in countless roles within the church, especially in its Sunday school program, where her heart for children shone brightest. Whether in her ward, in the classroom as a public-school educator, or in her roles as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Donna’s greatest joy was nurturing the lives of young people.
Her infectious laugh, warm hugs, and unwavering kindness left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered. To her family, she was not only a guiding light but also the cornerstone who held them together with love, faith, and strength. It was impossible to be around her and not be in a good mood.
Donna is reunited in eternal rest with her parents, Bill and Etolia Hines; her sisters, Linda and Wanda; and her brother, Billy. She leaves behind a legacy of selfless service, unconditional love, and unwavering faith—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is survived by her brother, Barry; her children, Jay (wife Nori) and Christie (husband Rick); her grandchildren, Patrick, Lance, Ian, Justin, Ashlee, Emma, and Jayden; her great-grandchildren, Cami, Asher, and Coulter; and her nephew, Billy. Donna truly created and shaped “great humans,” passing on her strength, kindness, and faith to her family.
“There will never be another like her,” her family shared. “She will forever remain our beacon of hope—the puzzle piece that locked our family together in faith and love.”
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 10:45 am, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Services will be conducted by Bishop Jason Boyd.
