Donald Floyd Davidson, 86, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Donald was born July 1, 1939, in Gadsden, AL, a son of the late Floyd and Lalih Belle Davidson.
He attended Auburn University and, during his working career, he was employed at Lockwood Greene for 17 years then worked and retired from Fluor Daniel in 2013 after 35 years of service.
Outside of work, music was a source of great joy. Donald played with the Auburn Knights (Big Band style music) and he continued to attend reunions of the Knights in later years. He also occasionally played trumpet with both the Greenville and Spartanburg Symphony Orchestras.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Bonnie Carol Blackwell Davidson; his daughter, Lori Robinson (Bill) of Rock Hill, SC; his grandchildren, Dylan Davidson of Columbia SC, Sara Katherine Robinson, and William Ashford Robinson, III., of Rock Hill, SC; and brother, Michael Davidson, of Gadsden, AL.
Along with his parents, Donald was predeceased by his son Donald F. Davidson, Jr.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Donald Floyd Davidson will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 30, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Tommy Sparks.
