Donald W. Bates, age 82, of Gaffney, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House. He was born on July 8, 1940, the son of the late James Robert Bates and Verna Voyles Bates.

He is survived by his daughter, Robyn Bates Blake (Steve); grandsons, Brandon Blake (Brooke) and Joshua Blake (Melainie); and a great-granddaughter, Kennedy.

Donald was predeceased by his brother, James Robert Bates, Jr.; and his nephews, Kevin Bates and Gary Bates.

A private service will be held in Spartanburg, SC.
