Dennis Phillips

Dennis Ray Phillips, 59, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with his Father on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Spartanburg, SC, he was born September 7, 1958, in Spartanburg County, the son of the late Samuel and Doris Faye Waddell Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church where he worked with the children of the AWANA program where he was loved dearly by them and his church family. He worked at Workability, doing a job that he loved and was well respected by his peers and staff. Dennis never met a stranger, had a heart of gold the size of Texas and would do anything for anyone who asked for or needed help. He was a blessing to all who knew him. Survivors include his brother, Lee Phillips (Dana); sister, Barbara Blackwell (Randy); nephews and niece, Jody Chaney (Shellie), Charles Chaney, Zachary Chaney, and Heather Blackwell, along with their children, Arianna and Gabriella Tovar, and Addysyn Pardon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Alice Phillips. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Beaumont Baptist Church with services following at 11:00 AM, conducted by The Rev. Steven A. McClain and The Rev. John Cox. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Avenue Ext, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes.
