Deborah “Debbie” Kane Hunt, age 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina. Debbie, a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister, was born on August 22, 1959 in Muncie, Indiana to Larry and Wanda (McCallister) Kane. She married Edward Gregory “Greg” Hunt on September 19,1981 and spent 44 years sharing love through motherhood and life.
While raising their three children, Debbie spent time volunteering with the American Red Cross, building a career at Perrin Law Firm, joining a church family at The Porch, and spending countless hours being “Big Grandma”. Everything Debbie did, she did with her full heart. This was shown through her receipt of the Clara Barton Award (the highest award for volunteers in the American Red Cross) and her years of being the central hub of her family - always keeping track of everyone’s activities and milestones.
She loved spending time with family and making memories through everything from relaxing by the pool or going camping to riding the open roads on a motorcycle and floating down the river in a canoe. Later in life, she loved a good game of Yahtzee or blocks and puzzles with her grandkids. Regardless of what Debbie was doing, she touched countless lives, built lifelong connections, and left a legacy of compassion and civic commitment.
Debbie will live on through the inspiration she gave all that met her. Early in life this was through her loving support with family, friends, and causes but more recently through the strength and tenacity in which she fought the illness she succumbed to. Although her earthly breath has ended, her family is celebrating that her Heavenly body can breathe free.
Debbie is survived by her devoted husband, Greg; her children, Erin Royer (Aaron and their children Koda, Kira, and Kali), Allie Sears (Andy and their children Aeris, Bradley, and Kaylee), and Garrett; her mother, Wanda Kane; her sister, Kathy Wilson (Jeff and their children Kristi, Brooke, and Colt); and her sweet dog, Max. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Kane, and her brother, Michael Kane.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Westwood Memorial Gardens located at 6101 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369.
A celebration of life will take place at The Porch Fellowship located at 423 Piedmont Highway, Piedmont, SC 29673 on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
Debbie’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
