Dawn Williams Patterson, 70, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Born June 5, 1955, in Radford, Virginia, Dawn is the daughter of the late Glenn Edward Williams and Barbara Ann Ashley Williams.
Dawn was a homemaker who dedicated herself wholeheartedly to nurturing her family and creating a warm, loving home. Her personality was the epitome of a beautiful spirit, never uttering a negative word, always carefree and positive. She was truly the kindest and sweetest person one could ever hope to know, leading by example in every aspect of her life. A member of Hope Church prior to her illness, Dawn, deeply loved the Lord and was a virtuous woman of God whose faith was inspirational.
Family time was very important to Dawn; traveling together and spending Christmases with everyone, as it was her favorite holiday. Dawn was affectionately known as GiGi by her grandchildren, it was her favorite title above all others.
One of Dawn’s greatest joys was being the “accessory queen,” as she loved to shop until she would drop, carefully selecting the perfect touches that completed her impeccable style.
Dawn shared 44 years of marriage with her husband, David L. Patterson, who stood by her side as her greatest partner and support. Together, they raised their children, Rachel P. Ginn (Chandler) and Jonathan Patterson; her grandchildren, Asher and Avery Ginn, whom she cherished. Dawn also survived by her brothers, Mark Williams (Sundra) and Nathan Williams (Wendy).
Though Dawn is now reunited with her parents and her brother, Glenn “Chip” Edwards Williams, II, her memory remains vibrant in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
A funeral service to honor Dawn will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens-Spartanburg, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Manning Strickland.
We will carry with us the warmth of Dawn's smile, the gentleness of her heart, and the beautiful example of a life lived with faith, love, and endless kindness.
