David Fredrick Westbrooks

June 9, 1971 — December 4, 2023

David Fredrick Westbrooks, 52, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on December 4, 2023, in Moore. He was born on June 9, 1971, in Spartanburg.

David was a master mechanic and musician, known for his intelligence, wit, kindness, generosity, and understanding. He had a passion for fixing things and enjoyed hobbies such as four-wheeling, working with robotic devices, and flying his drone.

David had a quiet demeanor but those close to him knew his funny sense of humor and his love for playing practical jokes on his friends and family. He took pride in being a provider and caring for his family. His legacy will be his daughters and the thumbprint he left on the mechanics he mentored at his work. David's actions spoke louder than words, showing the immense love he had to give.

David attended Dorman High School and pursued higher education at Greenville Technical College. He dedicated more than 30 years to his career as a master mechanic and was widely known as "the transmission man."

David is survived by his daughters, Hailey Westbrooks and Kassie Welliver (Tyler Welliver), his father, David R. Westbrooks; his mother, Rose Westbrooks; his friend, Freida Westbrooks; his sister, Paige Gulick; as well as granddaughters, cousins, nieces, and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his uncle, John Westbrooks.

A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2817 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

David Fredrick Westbrooks will be dearly missed by his loved ones and all those fortunate enough to have known him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
