David Harvey Ivey, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at his home. Born August 10, 1931 in Glendale, SC, he was the son of the late James Russell and Vera Harvey Ivey and was the husband of Barbara Ingram Ivey for 41 years.
David was a retired homebuilder. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was a US Air Force veteran. David was a Mason, Shriner, and member of the Spartanburg County Home Builders Association.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Donna Ivey of Spartanburg, Robin Curtis of Aiken, and Beverly Suthers (David) of Wytheville, VA; a daughter-in-law, Shyrl Ivey; grandchildren, David Harvey Ivey II (Brittney) of Georgetown, IN, Gabriel O’Sullivan (Ryanne) of Spartanburg, Shane Ezell (Ashley) of Landrum, Staci Roberts (Kevin) of Chesnee, Paul Spence (Renee) of Lexington, Ross Spence and Evan Spence, both of Raleigh, NC, Ivey Knupp (Derek) of Harrisonburg, VA, Timothy Burke (Abby) and Augustina Suthers, both of Wytheville, VA, Haven Curtis of Columbia; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, and Special Friends, Teri Eakins, Kim Greene, Diana Graham; special nephews, Danny Ivey (Ginger) and Jerry Deaton; and special nurse, Brianna McAbee. David is predeceased by his son, David Russell Ivey; grandson, Blake James Ivey; brothers, B. J. Ivey and Bobby Ivey; and sisters, Kitty Coleman and Vera (Tiny) Deaton.
The family will receive friends at the home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Rob Gouge and The Rev. Monty King. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Church Bus Fund, 842 Mount Zion Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
