David Hodge

David Elliott Hodge, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at his home. Born May 29, 1934 in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late George and Exie Lands Hodge and was the husband of the late Jean Elizabeth McPherson Hodge.

A US Air Force veteran, Mr. Hodge was retired from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department, where he truly enjoyed working for and was formerly employed with Jennings Glass Company straight out of the Air Force. A USC-Spartanburg graduate, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. Never idle, he also was a co-owner of E & H Motorcycles.

A lifelong resident of Spartanburg, he married Jean McPherson in 1954 when they met while serving in the Air Force in England.

Survivors include his sons, William E. Hodge (Delorese) of Cayce, SC and Gavin Hodge (Elaine) of Spartanburg, SC, his daughter, Kelly Fallaw (Rick) of Oklahoma, and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, Nathan Hodge, Edgar “Mason” Hodge, Toni Robertson and Leland Hodge.

A Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will follow at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SCSO Chaplain’s Benevolence Fund, 8045 Howard Street, Spartanburg, SC.
