David Cannon

David Simpson Cannon, 67, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Eastside Medical Center, Snellville, GA. Born September 16, 1949, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Simpson and Evelyn Brown Cannon. Mr. Cannon received a Master's Degree at Appalachian State University and was a former teacher at Spartanburg Technical College. An avid student of the Bible, he was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, enjoyed writing poetry, was a member of New Day Clubhouse, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Surviving are his sister, Harriet Fritz (Doug) of Lilburn, GA; niece, Julie Fritz Hunt (Brian) of Cumming, GA; nephew, Dr. David Edward Fritz (Tina) of Martinez, GA; and great-nephews and niece, Drew Hunt, Brayden Hunt, Danny Fritz, and Amanda Fritz. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, April 21, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Tod Alexander and the Rev. Arthur H. Holt. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers are Andy Cannon, Dr. David Fritz, Penny Hodges, Bob Handell, Dr. Steve Cannon, Brian Hunt, and Brian Pridgeon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at their respective homes.
