Claudia Beam Collins

Claudia Louise Beam Collins, 82, of Spartanburg, passed away on Monday morning, October 19, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Claudia was born on August 18, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of the late John Claude and Margaret Louise Hames Beam.

She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church. A graduate of Converse College, Claudia was Special Education teacher at Byrnes High School in Spartanburg School District 5 for 30 years.

Claudia was a lady who was always busy. Indoors, she loved to play hymns on her piano and was an exceptional seamstress who made beautiful clothing for her family. She was a talented gardener and took pride in making beautiful flower arrangements. Decorating her home for special occasions and holidays was another source of enjoyment for Claudia.

Along with her parents, Claudia was predeceased by her husband, Paul Richmond Collins, Jr. and her son, Jay Daniel Collins, and her brothers, Frank Beam and Sam Beam.

Claudia is survived by her daughters, Suzi Collins Odom (John) of Moore, SC and Jill Collins Jolly (Eddie) of Chesnee, SC; her four grandchildren, Alyssa Bobo (Christopher), Jonathan Odom (Abby), Sally Culp (Andrew) and Collin Jolly (Caroline); her 7 great-grandchildren, Tara, Leona, Joseph, Jay, Maelee, Caleb, and Sadie; and her faithful Pomeranian companion, Louie.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-12:45 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A service to worship God and honor Claudia’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Collins, Jonathan Odom, Collin Jolly, Christopher Bobo, Andrew Culp, and Richard Odom.

Special thanks are extended to Claudia’s faithful caregivers, Donna Steadman, Lula Black and Brenda Campbell, who provided her with great comfort and care during her illness. Claudia also experienced kindness and comfort from the following locations that assisted her during her time of declining health: Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, Terra Bella, White Oak at North Grove, Spartanburg Rehabilitation Institute at North Grove, Spartanburg Medical Center and Prisma Health.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church, 316 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
