Cheryle Elizabeth Porter

July 28, 1958 — June 14, 2025

Cheryle Elizabeth Porter (McKee), age 66, of Spartanburg, South Carolina was born July 28th, 1958 and left this world to join her Savior, alongside her husband, on June 14th, 2025. She was affectionately known as "Chey Chey" after the birth of her first grandchild.

Cheryle and Philip were married for 31 years. Cheryle was daughter to Joyce S. Hyatt and the late Larry Kenneth McKee. Additionally, she was raised lovingly by her late step-father Leroy Bryson Hyatt.

Cheryle was a 1976 graduate of Spartanburg High School. After high school, she began working at Dixie Bearing, then later American Bearing. Her knowledge of the industry was admirable and she worked tirelessly her entire adult life. She later went on to work alongside her husband Philip and assisted him in starting Cherokee Bearing and Pepco Inc while also assisting to run the family business, Porter's Electric.

Cheryle was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. But what she will be remembered for most is her love for Jesus. She spent the last 33 years living her life for Him. If she knew you or about you, she has prayed for you!

Cheryle and Philip worked together, enjoyed their lives to the fullest together, and they ascended to heaven together.

Cheryle enjoyed close and priceless relationships and friendships with many people. She loved meeting weekly with her Yada Yada prayer group. She loved serving others. She and Philip attended church over the years at First Baptist North Spartanburg and First Baptist of Spartanburg. When they were traveling, they would find a church there to worship as well. She had a heart for many missions, too many to list. Over the years, she served the church in many areas including Youth Group, MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers), Mission Friends, and AWANA.

Cheryle is survived by her mother, Joyce Hyatt of Spartanburg; her daughters Kisha Phipps (Randy) and Carmen Porter of Gaffney. Her brothers Kenneth McKee (Kathy) of North Carolina and COL (R) Edward McKee of Florida, and sister Shannon Cash (Danny) of Spartanburg. Her grandchildren: Karsyn Crocker (Jake), Ashlyn Phipps, Kody Phipps, Ryan Phipps, Gavin Blanton, Devin Phipps, Bryson Phipps, and Maddox Gardner. And great grandchild Bailey Grace Phipps. She is also survived by a sister in law Cheryl Hogue (David).

She was predeceased by both of her fathers and her brother Christopher Bryson Hyatt.

While they will be so missed here with us, we have the knowledge that we will see them again in Heaven.
