Cheryl Ann Rose, 79, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on June 9, 2023. She was born in San Diego, California, on January 3, 1944, to Robert Hammer and Betty Becker Hammer.
Cheryl not only adored spending time with family and friends, but little brought her as much joy as making meals for others. With her dear friend, Shirley Kuykendall, she co-owned The Rose Cottage Restaurant on Warren Abernathy Highway in Spartanburg from 1997-2008. Both women put their love of cooking into every meal served. The restaurant was cherished for years as a wonderful place for lunch and weekend brunch.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred Rose, and her three children, Christine (David) Franks, Debora Gaines, and Daniel Rose. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Brandon Gaines, Bryant (Sara) Gaines, Brent (Cecily) Gaines, Caroline (Carter) Mahoney, and four great-grandchildren. She is survived by a brother, Larry (Joanne) Hammer of Peru, IN and a sister, Terry (Stuart) Mutchler of Rochester, IN.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 12, 2023, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM in the Upper Room of the Cleveland Park Event Center Upper Level, 141 North Cleveland Park Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Hand in Hand Ministries, 393 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
