Charles Victor Jones, 95, passed away February 12, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House. Born August 15, 1930, in Laurens, SC., he was the only child of the late Rev. Irving Victor Jones and Selma Robinson Jones.
Charles was raised in Greenville County and attended Greenville Public Schools. He graduated from Greer High School, Campbell College, and Furman University.
Charles proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Sergeant during the Korean War, and over 30 years in the Marine Corps and Army Reserve, retiring as Colonel.
Charles was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg, and enjoyed Al Clark’s Sunday School Class for many years.
He was employed in the property and casualty insurance business for over 35 years serving SC, NC, GA, and FL. Charles was employed by Aetna Insurance Co., served as Vice President of Atlantic Mutual Fire Insurance Co., and retired with Harleysville Insurance Co.
He was a former member of 1752 Insurance Club, Evening Optimist, and Three Pines Country Club.
Charles was predeceased by his loving wife of over 62 years, Margaret Benton Jones. Surviving are his son David Charles Jones of Moore, daughter Vicki Jones Bishop (Brent), of Roebuck, and granddaughter Chloe Elise Bishop, of Carson-Newman University.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 -11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
Graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC. Services will be conducted by Reverend Sal Barone and Reverend Brian Redding. Military Honors will be performed by the United States Army.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Alight Ministries, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC. 29306, or Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Dr, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
