Charles Rhae Moore

Charles Rhae Moore, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the age of 75.

Charlie was born in Gaffney, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Benjamin Rhae Moore and the late Betty Ann Whitesell Moore. Charlie and his family settled in Illinois for his father’s road construction job. He graduated from Dundee Community High School in Carpentersville, Illinois in 1969, and shortly after joined the Army with his cousin Frankie. The Army sent Charlie to Germany, where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1972.

Shortly after he was discharged, Charlie and his father started their company, B&C Moore Excavating, Inc., which Charlie ran successfully for over 40 years. Later in 1972, he married Pamela Sherman, and they were blessed with four children and ten grandchildren.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 53 years, and his children and their families: Seth (Jaime) Moore and their children—Steven and Miriam; Benjamin (Laura) Moore and their children—Saley (Mason) Kellam, Malone, Hadassah, and Hazel Mae; Elijah (Olga) Moore and daughter Anastasia; Madeleine (Christian) Boutan and their children—Calvin, John-Pierre, and Camille.

Services to honor the life of Charles Rhae Moore are a family graveside service at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2026, in Cleveland Memorial Park, 1225 College St, Shelby, NC 28152. The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM, followed by a celebration of life service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorial contributions made in Charlie’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the Special Olympics, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
