Martha Carolyn Green Welchel Tracy

Martha Carolyn Green Welchel Tracy, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the age of 90. Born on May 14, 1935, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Edward Green and Bertha Shook Green.

A retired bookkeeper from TIETEX, Carolyn had a remarkable career that reflected her dedication and meticulous nature. Yet, it was her unwavering faith and commitment to her church that truly defined her life. For over 60 years, she attended Beaumont Baptist Church, where she served as a pianist for many years and was actively involved in various church activities. Carolyn was known as a good and faithful servant to the Lord; always positive and never uttering a negative word, she was the example of a Godly woman. 

Carolyn had a love for travel, often seeking new adventures. She had a particular enjoyment for chocolate, especially her milk chocolate-covered raisins. These simple pleasures were a testament to her approach to life—finding joy in the little things.

She leaves behind her nephews, John Morgan of Belton, SC, Daryl Welchel (Cindy) of Spartanburg, SC, and Randy Welchel (Renea) of Spartanburg, SC, along with her extended family who will miss her deeply. Carolyn is reunited in spirit with her husband, Dewey Welchel, Jr., her son, Dr. Dewey Edward Welchel, and her sister, Lou Ellen Jones. 

A graveside service will be held at 12:00, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307; services will be conducted by the Rev. John Cox. 

The love and light she brought into this world will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in the arms of her savior, Jesus.
