Carolyn Calvert Farr, 83, returned to her heavenly home on December 16, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Carolyn was born to the late Ray Ashmore and Mamie Malone Calvert in Fingerville, SC on July 26, 1934. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She worked as an educator at Cowpens High School also an employee of Chapman Concrete. Carolyn was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her late husband Quay B. Farr Jr. on January 20, 1953 in Fingerville, SC. After Quay's young departure from his earthly home Carolyn became the sole provider for their four children. Carolyn loved the Lord first and her family second. She was a 1952 Boiling Springs High School graduate where she was the homecoming queen. She attended Newberry College, where she met the love of her life and spouse, Quay. She enjoyed cooking, the Gamecocks, and was once an active member in the Garden Club. Having been an athlete herself, Carolyn, was an avid sports fan cheering on her children and grandchildren as their number one fan. Carolyn is survived by her four children: Renee Reid (late Mike, Sr), Quay Benjamin Farr (Trissie), Sarah Garrett (Jerry), and Jane Brannon (Philip). Carolyn was also blessed to enjoy her 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Additional survivors to Carolyn are her siblings, Raymond Calvert (Lib), Corvis Calvert (Martha) and Tim Calvert (Janice). She is preceded in death by her best friend and spouse, Quay Benjamin Farr, Jr., sister, Joan Aey, and Mary Erco Radford.
