Carolyn Blackwell

Carolyn Ann Hill Blackwell, 79, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Pacifica Senior Living Skylyn.  Born June 25, 1943, in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Elizabeth Lee Hill. She was first married to the late Jesse Earl Garner and the late Joe William Blackwell.

Carolyn was retired from Spartanburg Medical Center as a nursing assistant and of the Baptist faith.  She loved taking care of other people and sitting on the porch of the WigWam Motel and eating at Grandma’s Kitchen in Cherokee, NC.

Survivors are a son, Tim Garner (Amy) of Pacolet; daughters, Linda Garner of Union; step-daughters; Jean Motts (Anthony) and Libby Barrett (Jimmy) both of Gaffney and Penny Baty (Kyle) of Pacolet; eleven grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.  Mrs. Blackwell was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Millwood; a grandson, Jeffrey Todd Millwood; siblings, John Hill, Mike Hill, David Hill and Margaret Chappell; niece, Kay Lee.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 30, 2023, 2:30-3:30PM at Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM conducted by The Rev. Sidney Weaver and The Rev. Lynn Ford.  Burial will take place at Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church Street, Roebuck, SC 29301.
