Carlton "Chuck" David Garrett, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 24, 2026, in Spartanburg, South Carolina at the age of 76. He was born on August 1, 1949, in Spartanburg, to the late, Billy Whit Garrett and Betty Lee Truesdale Garrett.
Chuck was the proud owner and operator of Garrett and Son Plumbing Heating and Air; a family business he took over from his father to continue the legacy. Later in his career, he was employed with Spartanburg Regional Hospital until his retirement. Chuck's industrious nature was not only evident in his professional life but also deeply ingrained in the values he instilled in his children.
He served his country honorably for six years in the U.S. Army Reserves, demonstrating a commitment to service.
Known for his wit and sharp sense of humor, Chuck had an engaging personality that brought joy to those around him. An avid Clemson fan and NASCAR enthusiast, he found fishing—especially for largemouth bass— his favorite pastime throughout his life. His greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, to whom he was deeply devoted.
Chuck is lovingly survived by his wife of 55 years, Melissa M. Garrett; son, Chad Garrett (Jamie); daughter, Lori Garrett (Aly); and a special nephew who was like a son, Jeremy Burgess. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Chase, Cody, and Caleb Garrett, along with granddaughter Riley Coker. He is also remembered by his sisters Saundra Huckaby (Jim), Tina Clark (Dave), and Bege Loftis (Bart).
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Pamela Lawson, and his brother Doug Garrett.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM, April 30, 2026, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
