C. Wayne Rhymer, passed away in Spartanburg, SC, on July 31, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on November 10, 1947, in Spartanburg, SC, Wayne was the son of the late Clyde Elmer Rhymer and Sarah Geneal Ballew Rhymer.
Wayne graduated from Chapman High School in Inman before embarking on a career that would shape his life. After high school, he began flipping homes, which ultimately led him to become a skilled home builder. After many years of excelling in his craftsmanship, he retired from Atkins Builders.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Wayne served honorably in Vietnam, an experience that instilled in him a deep appreciation for service and sacrifice. His faith was also a cornerstone of his life; he was a past member of Beaumont Mills Baptist Church. Each night, Wayne found solace in the music and teachings of Rev. Jimmy Swaggart, tuning in to his broadcasts before going to bed. His unwavering support for Jimmy Swaggart's ministry reflected his commitment to his beliefs.
Wayne was known for his adventurous spirit and varied interests. He loved to pan for gold in local rivers, enjoyed collecting guns and coins, and even honed the skill of making bullets. His passion for automobiles, particularly Corvettes, was evident throughout his life, as he owned three and enjoyed working on cars, especially his Corvettes.
Wayne is survived by his loving daughters: Lori Frantz, Courtney Vaughn (Ashley), Erin Ravan, Cayla Owens (Seth), and Kimberly Camby (Sean). He was also a cherished grandfather to his grandchildren: Elliott Vaughn, Macklin Vaughn, Clancey Vaughn, Abigail Ravan, Laney Flood, Wilder Flood, Lindsey Camby,.
Family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 PM, Monday, August 4, 2025, Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC, 29307.
The cryptside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 4, 2025, Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum and conducted by The Rev. Tommy Rhymer.
His family and friends will remember Wayne not just for his achievements and adventures, but for his kindness, generosity, and the love he shared with all who were fortunate to know him.
