Bryant James Reeves, Jr., 79, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a sudden illness.
He married the late Jeanette Doris Smith Reeves on March 25, 1972, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Jeanette Reeves passed on December 13, 2017. They were married for 45 years.
Bryant was born in Dorchester, South Carolina, the son of the late Bryant James Reeves, Sr., and the late Minnie Fairey Berry Reeves.
Bryant was in the 1963 graduating class of St. George High School and the 1975 graduating class of the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg (now Upstate), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He served his country with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, with the 336 Munitions Maintenance Squadron (USAFE), as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist in Germany. After graduating he poured his heart and soul into USC-Upstate for 30 plus years. Bryant created the student bookstore, coached the first baseball team, and was the head coffee maker for years.
Bryant was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg, SC, where he was a member of the Craig Class, attended Men’s Breakfast every Friday, a member of the Finance Committee, and served as a Church Trustee. Bryant was the bookkeeper and treasurer for 22 years. Most importantly, he was the quality control officer for Sunday morning donuts. Of the 4 dozen, there was always one donut that went missing.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bryant will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
