Brenda Simpson

Brenda Louise Skinner Simpson, 86, of Spartanburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, September 20, 2026, joining her husband, Gene, in Heaven on their 69th wedding anniversary. Brenda was born on June 4, 1940, in Spartanburg County, a daughter of the late Grady and Bessie Barnett Skinner.

A member of Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church, Brenda served her church as the church organist for many years, served as a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Women’s Missionary group.

Brenda was predeceased by her husband, Gene Timothy Simpson, Sr.; her son, Gene Timothy Simpson, Jr.; a grandson, Nathan Simpson; and her siblings, Charles Skinner, Gladys Henderson and Betty Johnson.

Surviving are her sons, Alan Dale Simpson (Patty) of Cowpens, SC and Jeffery Todd Simpson (Tracy) of Fort Mill, SC; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Simpson of Spartanburg, SC; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A service to worship God and honor the life of Brenda will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church, 1965 Dewberry Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Pastor Ken Hales and Pastor Zach Williams. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
