Bobby Joe Champion, 66, of 1658 Bobcat Lane, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Oakmont East, Greenville, SC. Born February 25, 1943, in Spartanburg, SC, he is the son of Myrtle Scruggs Champion Green of Inman and the late William Columbus Champion. He was a retired home builder and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Price Champion; three sisters, Shirley Mahaffey and her husband Gary of New Prospect, Deanie Duncan of Spartanburg, and Judy Rollins and her husband Ken of Inman; two brothers William Champion, Jr. of Spartanburg, and Mike Green and his wife Margaret of Woodruff; two special aunts, Clois Jackson and her husband Ray of Columbus, NC, and Mildred Hill and her husband William of Hendersonville, NC; two special nieces, Miranda Tucker of Pauline, and Suzanne Covan of Boiling Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Maxie Green. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel conducted by the Rev. Larry Medlin. Burial will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens.
