Blanche Giles

Blanche Elizabeth Littlejohn Giles, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at White Oak Estates-Spartanburg. Born August 29, 1927, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Thomas Littlejohn, Sr. and Naomi Smith Littlejohn and widow of John Vance Giles. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Mrs. Giles attended Limestone College for two years. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and served many years as secretary for the Spartanburg First Baptist Church Preschool and H. T. Littlejohn & Company. Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Naomi Giles Porter and her husband Mr. Scott Porter of Shelby, NC and Karen Lee Giles Strange and her husband Dr. John Strange of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, Hayden Porter Bradford (Micah) and Natalie Porter, all of Boone, NC, Anna Grace Strange of Denver, CO, Ethan C. Strange of Spartanburg, SC, Isaac Strange of Hendersonville, NC, and Emily Strange of Columbia, SC; her niece, who was raised in Blanche's home, Bridget McGraw Jones (Barney) of Spartanburg, SC; and her dear friend, Howard Toole of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Grace Giles. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Private committal will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel by the Rev. Robert C. Morgan and Dr. Benjamin W. Littlejohn.
