Betty Jean Wooten

Betty Jean Wooten, 88, of Spartanburg, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.  Betty was born June 18, 1935, a daughter of the late Mary Ruth Ward Wooten and Clarence Wooten.  She was of the Baptist faith.

At the age of 16, Betty was employed with S. H. Kress & Co. where she worked her way from a clerk to an assistant in the office.  She went on to work for Lockwood-Green Engineers and retired after 35 years of service.

Betty is survived by her sisters, Margaret Gail Wooten of the home, and Barbara Coats and Linda Kay Mize of Spartanburg; her brother, Dennis Wooten Greenville; her nieces, Melinda Mize Owens and Staci Coats Said (Sam); her nephews, Jason Mize and D. J. Wooten; a great-niece, Kailey Owens; and a great-nephew, Zachary Wooten.  Betty was predeceased by her brothers, Bill Wooten (Carol), Johnny Wooten, and Warren Wooten; and a nephew, Billy Wooten.

Private service will be held.
