Betty Herring

Betty White Herring, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 24, 1936 in Pacolet, SC, she was the daughter of the late Roy Cleveland and Bobbie Robison White and the wife of the late Leon Benford Herring.

Betty earned her associates degree from Cecil’s Business College and was retired from Blackman Uhler. Betty and Ben enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and Clemson football. She served her Lord and Savior as a Gideon’s International Auxiliary member and was a longtime member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church.

Survivors include her stepson, Dr. L. Derek Herring (Vicki) of Pauline, SC; grandchildren, Christy H. Marshall (Jerrod) of Saluda, SC, Jay Haggard (Misty) of Pauline, SC, Jake Herring (Olivia) of Roebuck, SC, Hannah Herring of Pauline, SC, Erik Pitts (Kelly) of Spartanburg, SC, Hilary Trammell (Andrew) of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren, Caleb Marshall, Noah Marshall, Katelyn Marshall; nieces and nephews, Judy Hayes Hodge (Jimmy), Karen Hayes Free (Aaron), Barry Ellison (Susan), Diane Scales Cornett (Doug), Don Scales, Susan Scales Sherbert (Frank), Wayne White, Roy Dean White (Lorie); and her sister-in-law, Josephine White; nieces and nephews, Archie Herring (Sheila), Curtis Herring (Teresa), Tony Herring (Jennifer), Linda Dail (Bill), Jim White; along with many great nieces and great nephews.

A Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Monday, November 7, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Todd Lowe. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Honorary escort will be The Joy Class of Cedar Spring Baptist Church.
