Obituary

Betty Louise Wilson Barnes, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 18, 1942, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas Wilson and Minnie Mable Hilliard Wilson Morgan.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered around her family. She shared a loving marriage with her husband, Bud, whom she married on October 19, 1963. Together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Wilbur "Bud" Earl Barnes and three sisters: Loretta Buchanan(Albert), Gladys Bennett(Preston) and Mary Margaret Lasure (Harold).

She is survived by her children: Katharine Elliott, Lisa Cole; her son, Douglas (Colette) Barnes; sister, Naomia Matthews (Terry). She also leaves behind a treasured legacy through her 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren who were blessed by her love.

Betty was a graduate of Brilliant Memorial High School. Throughout her working years, she held several positions including bank teller, truck driver, and other various occupations, always known for her strong work ethic and determination.

Betty touched many lives through her caring heart and generous spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Floyds Boiling Springs Chapel located at 4161 SC-9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Brandon Bowers officiating.

Pallbearers will include Tristan Rouse, Caleb Rouse, Zach Barnes, Mason Downer, Roy Hunsberger, Klay Jacks, and Alex Duncan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Erik Rasmussen, Keith Rasmussen, and Ron "Tink" King. Interment will be held following the service at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens.
