Betty Ann Shepard Long, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, February 25, 2016, at White Oak Estates. Born April 23, 1932, in Knoxville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Cawood Shepard and Myrtle Miller Shepard and widow of Coit Carroll Long, Jr. A 1950 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Mrs. Long was a member of United Baptist Church (formerly Hayne Baptist Church) and retired as administrator of Maranatha Manor Residential Care Facility. Her hobbies included genealogy, scrapbooking, doll collecting (mainly Shirley Temple), catering, and entertaining family and friends. Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Carol Long Charles and husband Leslie Marvin Charles and Cynthia Ann Long Mason and husband Dennis Ellis Mason, all of Inman, SC; son, Stephen Coit Long of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Courtney Lynn Mason of Knoxville, TN; sister, Nancy Shepard Skogman of Spartanburg, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Patricia Lynne Long; sisters and brothers-in-law, Roberta Shepard Rabun and Robert Rabun, Dolores S. Stockman and Leon Stockman, and Dale Skogman. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 26, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Robert Emory and the Rev. Dr. Carroll H. Page. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers are Doug Millwood, Rich Kelly, Bob Kelly, Donnie Cranfill, Kenneth Williams, and Kenny Truesdale. Memorials may be made to United Baptist Church, 7319 Valley Falls Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Faith Home, PO Box 39, Greenwood, SC 29648. The family expresses thanks to the caring staff of White Oak Estates and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and respect shown to Miss Betty while she was in their care.
