Benjamin Cecil Lancaster, 91, of Spartanburg, SC passed away December 29, 2022, at Upstate Community Hospice House. He was born May 9, 1931, in Spartanburg to the late Guy W. and Henrietta Burnett Lancaster.
Mr. Lancaster was a veteran of the United States Army. He then served as a lineman with Duke Power until his retirement. Mr. Lancaster owned Lancaster Electric for over 30 years. He and his wife, Helen, have been life-long members of Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. Lancaster was a teacher and volunteer with the youth, sports, security, and outreach during his membership at Fairview Baptist Church. He was also an active volunteer with Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and won awards for his dedicated volunteer hours.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Helen Webb Lancaster; son, Dennis Lancaster (Linda) of Gainesville, GA; daughter, Teresa Lancaster Vassar (Phil) of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Lindsay Cox (Brian) of Atlanta, GA, Kalin Lancaster of Gainesville, GA, Gage Vassar of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Colt Vassar of Myrtle Beach, SC; great-grandchildren, Bennett Cox and Emmy Cox; and sisters-in-law, Betty Belue and Celia Belue. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Anne Montanari, Perry Belue, Jim Belue, David Lancaster, and Jackie Lancaster Lemons; aunt, Estelle Burnett of Spartanburg, SC; and uncle, Boyce Lee Burnett of Spartanburg, SC.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Fairview Baptist Church, 1551 Bryant Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303, conducted by The Rev. Ty Childers. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.
