Barry Nelson Smith, Jr., of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. He was born on August 21, 1965, a son of Johnette Cobb Smith of Spartanburg and the late Barry Nelson Smith, Sr.
Barry was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he participated in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher. A very gifted student, Barry attended the SC Governor’s School of the Arts in 1982-1983.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a brother, Russell John Smith of Spartanburg; and his sister, Annissa S. Wright (James Wright) of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
