Barbara Earle Ropp, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on July 26, 2025. Barbara was a native of Clover, SC, and was a daughter of the late Lewis Blease and Arlie Earle. She was the wife of the Rev. John Wesley Ropp, Jr.

Barbara was a graduate of Erskine College, Class of 1959 and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Her life’s calling was to teach high school students, which she enthusiastically did for thirty-three years.

Along with her husband, Barbara is survived by two sons, Welsey Ropp of Charleston, SC and Greg Ropp of Monroe, Ga; five grandchildren, Melanie Ropp, Brittany Loadholt (David), Lee Ropp, Kursti Eaves (Patrick), and David Ropp; a sister, Dianne Wallace (Ron); two brothers, Tom Earle (Rachel) and Bob Earle (Donna); and a sister-in-law, Peggy Earle. Along with her parents, Barbara was predeceased by two brothers, Wilmer and Leonard Earle, and a sister, Sara Sherer.

The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 233 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. A memorial service to honor Barbara’s life will follow at 12:00 p.m., in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Bryan Pigford and the Rev. Luther Rickenbaker. A reception will follow the service at 1:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
