Obituary

Barbara Maynor Coggins, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was 84 years old. Barbara was born on August 2, 1941, in Gaffney, South Carolina, daughter to the late Dean Huey and Sarah Lee Maynor.

For over 50 years, Barbara owned and operated Barbara's Beauty Box in Spartanburg, creating a welcoming space for friends and clients alike. Her passion for beauty extended beyond her business; she nurtured her love for flower gardening and found joy in the snow, embracing life's simple pleasures.

Barbara’s dedication to her community was evident through her role as a Sunday School Teacher throughout her life, with her last 30 years spent at Zion Hill Baptist Church. She touched countless lives by imparting wisdom, kindness and Biblical truths to her students. Barbara was a strong influential prayer warrior for her family and friends. 

She is survived by her loving family, including her son, Terry K. "Ken" Coggins, Jr., and his wife Angela, along with her daughter, Sabrina M. Coggins. Barbara cherished every moment spent with her granddaughters, Ashley M. Coggins and Ashton V. Thompson (Reece), and adored her great grandson, Grant K. Thompson. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister, Patricia M. Emory, who shared in the joys and challenges of life alongside her. 

Barbara is now reunited with her husband, Terry K. Coggins, Sr., and her sister, Judy M. Wyatt.

A graveside service honoring Barbara will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis.

Barbara Maynor Coggins will be remembered not only for her achievements and contributions but also for her loving spirit and unwavering commitment to family and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
