As a dedicated nurse who served at Spartanburg Regional Hospital on the cardiac unit for over four decades Barbara's commitment to healthcare was exemplified by her tenure at the hospital, where she touched the lives of many patients with her compassion and expertise. She earned her master’s degree in nursing, a testament to her continuous pursuit of knowledge and excellence in her field and was a Case Manager on the cardiac floor.
Barbara was as strong, independent, loving, and devoted, woman who always put her family first. Barbara undertook the role of a single parent with grace. She raised her three children independently and took immense joy in her role as a grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Edwards Simmons, Sr. and Nellie Marie Bright Simmons, her husband, J. Gregory Bryan, and her brother, Eddie Simmons. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be carried on by her surviving family and friends.
Among those mourning Barbara's loss are her children: Lindsay Arthur (Johnny Peterson), Justin Wyatt (Sally), Conner Wyatt (Carmen), Michael Bryan (Elizabeth), and Geoffrey Bryan (Jennifer). Her memory will also be cherished by her 13 grandchildren: Daniel, William, Nathan, Madison, Norah, Julianne, Finley, Vesper, Robert, Aubrey, Grace, Geoffrey and Lily Rose.
